John Pollock
Chief Operations Officer
John Pollock is chief operating officer of Meridian Property Company, a Marcus and Millichap subsidiary. He is responsible for the vision, growth and profitability of Meridian. John directs the company’s strategy and manages operations including, development, sales, marketing, asset management and finance. With more than 15 years of knowledge shaped by a wide range of experiences in commercial and residential real estate development, John has proven his ability to lead, develop and manage projects of any size. Prior to joining Meridian in 2006, John served as General Manager for national homebuilder Centex Homes where he was responsible all land development, construction and sales in Santa Fe, New Mexico.From 1997 to 2003, John served as Vice President of Bovis Lend Lease, a leading international project management and construction company operating in more than thirty countries. At Bovis Johns responsibilities included managing finance, project controls and risk management and he was involved in a wide range of transactions in size, scope and geography. Notable developments included: Santana Row San Jose, CA, Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco, CA, Lincoln Square, Bellevue, WA and the Privatization of Fort Hood Family Housing in Killeen, TX. John is a Certified Public Accountant and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from St. Marys College. He is an active member of the Institute of Management Accountants for whom he teaches a monthly course.
Bill Schmitt
Vice President of Construction
William Schmitt is vice president of construction at Meridian Property Company and is responsible for managing all aspects of project delivery, including budgets, schedules, process and quality. William Schmitt brings his expertise to all project phases from design concept through construction completion offering more than thirty years of insight and experience to every project Meridian builds. Prior to joining Meridian in 2006, he served as Director of Construction Services for Catellus Development and as Owner/Manager of CSB Construction. Bill has been involved in the development and construction of over one thousand buildings in Northern California. Bill holds a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Valparaiso University and an MBA from Golden Gate University.
Jim Spellman
Senior Asset Manager
Jim Spellman joined Meridian Property Company as senior asset manager in 2006. He is responsible for overseeing operations of Meridian’s portfolio of medical office assets, totaling in excess of 500,000 square feet.

Jim provides valuable expertise in real estate development, transaction structuring, acquisitions/dispositions and in initiating marketing and leasing campaigns for Meridian owned properties. He provides medical tenants with a seamless continuum of coordination and support from lease negotiation all the way through to suite build-out. Jims responsibilities include tenant selection/qualification, procurement, proposal and lease negotiations, tenant relations, and design/construction management of tenant suites. Prior to joining Meridian, Jim was a commercial broker in Central California, specializing in land acquisition for commercial and residential development and office leasing and sales. In the last 10 years, Jim has been involved in transactions in excess of $200 million.From 1999 to 2002 Jim was a development partner and independent real estate investor in the Northeast corridor. Jim holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire and is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of California.
Caroline Doyle
Director of Strategy & Acquisitions
Caroline Doyle joined Meridian Property Company in 2010 as director of strategy and acquisitions. She is responsible for strategic planning, acquisition analysis and market & consumer research for the development of health care real estate. Continue Reading
Caroline sources and evaluates new development and acquisition opportunities for Meridian by conducting thorough market demand, investment feasibility and financial feasibility analysis in the project initiation process and completing project underwriting prior to investor approval. Prior to joining Meridian, Caroline consulted for several national and regional development companies including, General Growth Properties, Crescent Resources and LandSource. She provided analysis of various commercial and residential asset classes. Previously, she held regional roles with a national homebuilder and had responsibility for strategic planning, acquisition methodology, market & acquisition analysis and asset management/disposition for East Coast and West Coast markets. Prior to that Caroline worked as an Investment Banking Associate with First Union Capital Markets Media and Communications Group, and as an Analyst with a boutique commercial real estate firm in Charlotte, NC focusing on multi-family investments. Caroline has a MBA in Financial Management and Markets from Arizona State University, and a BA from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has held real estate licenses in Nevada and North Carolina.
Andrew Gee

Andrew is involved in sourcing and evaluating new development acquisition opportunities throughout Northern and Southern California. Prior to joining Meridian, Andrew worked as a Corporate Development Associate at The Marcus and Millichap Companies working in a corporate finance role. Andrew also has experience as a Real Estate and Redevelopment Consultant at the Rosenow Spevacek Group, Inc.in Southern California and as a Planning Project Manager and Planning Specialist at K.Hovnanian Homes and Wesco Homes and Development in the homebuilding industry, having focused on developing communities in the Inland Empire and South Los Angeles. Andrew had also worked for a number of years in the Architecture Industry. Andrew has an MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, a Masters in Urban Planning from UCLA and a BArch in Architecture from Cal Poly Pomona.

John currently focuses on the development of strategic partnerships within the health care real estate sector providing site location, construction services and financing throughout the Western United States.

John was responsible for the development and disposition of a portion of Meridians medical professional office portfolio totaling in excess of 950,000 square feet. Prior to joining Meridian, John worked in the Silicon Valley office of Cornish & Carey Commercial Newmark Knight Frank, one of the largest independent real estate service firms in the world. He was involved with brokerage services and asset management. From 2001 to 2003 John was with Homestore.com, focusing on bringing REITS to the online portal. John holds a Bachelor in Law & Society from the University of California at Santa Barbara and is a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of California.
Christopher W. Smith
New Business Development Manager
Christopher Smith is a New Business Development Manager at Meridian Property Company. He has worked in the healthcare and real estate field for more than 20 years and maintains a wide variety of contacts and relationships with healthcare providers, systems and development groups throughout the United States. Chris began his career working in administration at private and public hospitals including Texas Health Resources, MD Anderson Cancer Center and the Veterans Administration. Continue Reading
Prior to joining Meridian in 2011, Chris was a Principal at Novum Healthcare Development providing marketing and new business development consulting services to healthcare real estate developers. From 2007 to 2009 Chris was Vice President of Business Development for Duke Realty where he played a pivotal role in the creation of several projects including the development of new medical office buildings and cancer centers.
From 2001 to 2007 Chris worked for some of the largest healthcare developers and consultants in the country including Hammes Company and Nueterra Real Estate. At the nation’ largest developer of healthcare real estate, the Hammes Company, Chris worked on several projects throughout the mid west & west coast performing a variety of services including due diligence, site selection, financial analysis, leasing, marketing and business development. At Nueterra Real Estate, Chris served as Vice President and worked on Surgery Center and MOB projects through the United States with roles ranging from business development, project management and Board oversight. At Nueterra Real Estate, Chris created several Private Placements, new developments and JV’s with physicians and held a Series 22 and 63 NASD license.
Chris holds a Masters of Healthcare Administration from Trinity University and a BA degree in Biology and Psychology from Austin College.
